Read the film description

An animated invitation to Skoolympics introduces four student athletes: Timi Edo (swimming), Hakeem Mba (basketball), Helen Ola (table tennis) and Haruna Oye (track and field). Each appears in a distinct coloured scene with their name, school context and sport. The film then reveals the Skoolympics identity and an event announcement for Heritage Bank in partnership with Lagos State. The original cards list 2–4 November 2016 and venues in Surulere and Yaba, Lagos, followed by historical website addresses. It closes with the Heritage Bank and Lagos State marks and “Building a Heritage of Champions.”

Storytelling, characters & animation

01 / Context

Awareness. Participation. Anticipation.

Heritage Bank commissioned a 2D animated film for the social media campaign supporting Skoolympics, its CSR school-sport programme.

The brief combined three objectives: raise awareness of the initiative, encourage schools to participate and build excitement before the event.

02 / Concept

Make the story about the young competitors.

Argillic developed the campaign concept, script, storyboard and characters, then produced the animation.

The film introduces student athletes before bringing the story back to Skoolympics. The people and sports give the event announcement a narrative, rather than relying on information alone.

03 / Characters

Four sports. Four distinct personalities.

The cast brings swimming, basketball, table tennis and track and field into one film. Each character has a name, a sport and a school context.

Distinct colours and sporting actions separate the characters, while consistent framing and title treatments connect them as a campaign family.

04 / Campaign

From a shared idea to a finished film.

Heritage Bank used the completed animation in its social media campaign. The film connects the athlete introductions with the event announcement and the closing line, “Building a Heritage of Champions.”

The work shown is the original campaign film and selected stills. Its event dates and web addresses belong to the historical campaign.
